Food Writer and Photographer Sabrina Currie
Food Writer and Photographer Sabrina Currie

    Welcome, I'm Sabrina Currie!

I live in beautiful Campbell River, BC (the traditional territories of the Wei Wai Kum First Nations), on Vancouver Island, a great place for food growing, foraging and fishing.

With a background of culinary school, photography and sommelier training, my blog is where I share my joy.

I am passionate about encouraging everyone to grow, forage and buy food as locally as possible. Throughout North America, we have an abundance of farmer's markets, local producers of cheeses and meats and clean waters that provide seafood.

Supporting local helps keep money in your own community, reduces pollution from shipping and gives you access to the freshest produce possible. Additionally, supporting local farmers, fishers and makers ensures they can continue producing and improves our food security here at home.

I enjoy making nourishing, whole food recipes with awesome farm fresh ingredients and occasionally sharing what I've learned about gardening here on the West Coast.

Full disclosure: I wasn't always a gardener! I learned by trial and error. In that spirit, my garden has evolved like my recipes and has become reliable and low maintenance with fruits and veggies that grow easily in our climate.

If this resonates with you, subscribe to my emails to get all the recipes, ideas and discounts to my shop.

If you're a business and want to work with me, check out my Contact and Media Kit.

    My Why

Coming from a fishing family, having a college background in culinary arts and having two passionate gardeners as grandmothers, I felt strongly about turning my unused front lawn into a food garden or potager as the French call it. 10+ years into growing food instead of lawn, I am more passionate about it than ever.

    Ethical Collaborations

My hobbies include foraging (I LOVE mushrooms!), fishing and supporting fresh and sustainably earth grown goods. This has led to some amazing work and collaborations with local and national companies that share the same ethos.  I have been honored to work with farmers, fishers, whole food based companies and makers, photographing, promoting and writing about their work.  I am blessed to be a part of the Edible Vancouver Island magazine team and have made many special friendships in this wonderful food community.
