4 Ingredients plus water and a bread maker and you've got delicious and easy pizza dough at your fingertips. This versatile dough recipe is smooth and stretchy, bakes up into a crispy crust with a tender chew. It can be rolled into thin crust pizzas or thicker pan pies.
Add yeast and warm water to the bowl of the bread maker. Water should be warm, not hot. Aim for 100-110°F (38-43°C). Let sit until it's starting to foam (activate) about 10 minutes. If the yeast doesn't activate, toss it and start over with new yeast.
Add the olive oil, then the flour and salt. Close the lid.Select the dough or pizza dough setting and press start. (Different types of bread machines vary, but most cycles run 60-90 minutes including the dough rise.)
Once the dough cycle is finished, take the dough out (be sure to take the dough paddle out at this point) and place it on a counter or parchment that has been lightly dusted with flour. Let it rest for 15-20 minutes, and then your pizza dough is ready to roll!
To Bake
Preheat your oven to 475-500°F (250-260°C).Roll out the dough. This will make two 10-12" pizzas, depending how thick you like your crust. It can also make 4-6 mini or individual pizzas.Top with your favorite sauce, toppings and cheese and bake until the crust is golden brown on the edges and cheese is bubbling, about 8-12 minutes. Cool for 2 minutes on a rack to set the cheese before slicing and serving while hot.
Notes
Warm water will help speed the yeast blooming but hot water can kill it. Feel the water with your hand, it should feel comfortably warm but not too hot for a baby.If you are making the pizza dough ahead of time, place it in a lightly oiled bowl or bag, cover well and refrigerate. Roll and let it come to room temperature before topping and baking.
